abertis employees hold their most international Volunteers' Day

abertis held today its fifth Corporate Volunteer Day, involving various aid and awareness activities, this year centred on the rise in poverty. This day, under the slogan “Now more than ever, we have a world to share”, is focused on the internationalization of the Corporate Volunteer programme, Voluntaris, in the countries in which the Group operates.

The institutional event held this morning at the abertis group headquarters in Barcelona, was attended by Neus Munté, consellera of the Catalonia Government’s Social Well-being and Family department; the chairman of abertis and of the abertis foundation, Salvador Alemany; as well as representatives of abertis‘ international volunteers in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Spain, France and Puerto Rico.

All of them participated in a colloquium chaired by abertis‘ director of Institutional Relations and director of the abertis foundation, Sergi Loughney, which exposed the crude reality of more and more families and, especially, a large number of them which, until a short time ago, never believed they would require help. The event was also attended by representatives from Cáritas Diocesana, the Red Cross or the Food Bank (Banc dels Aliments) the Guttmann Institute and the Abadia de Montserrat Foundation.

The chairman of abertis and of the abertis foundation, Salvador Alemany, highlighted that “abertis volunteers form part of the heart and soul of the company, proof of which is that they are growing year by year” and reinforced the idea transmitted by the Volunteer Day slogan that “in a climate of widespread recession, the response of society and of the company are key”.
