UNESCOMED and the MedMaB Thematic Network presented at the 2nd IberoMAB Network Congress in Honduras

Roser Maneja and Mari Carmen Romera have presented the UNESCOMED Center and the MedMaB Thematic Network, supported by the Abertis Foundation, at the 2nd Congress of the IberoMAB Network, as one of its inspiring success stories. The Congress brings together the network of MaB committees and biosphere reserves of Iberoamerica and the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal.

Under the slogan "Celebrating life", this meeting is being held in the Trifinio Fraternidad Transboundary Biosphere Reserve, in Copán Ruinas (Honduras).

During this 2nd Congress of the IberoMaB Network, constituted by the representatives of the MaB Committees and Focal Points, the managers and directors of the biosphere reserves, the people in charge of the administrations of natural protected areas, the representatives of the Academy, and the rest of the participants, the 25th Anniversary of the creation of the IberoMaB Network was commemorated.

In addition, during the meeting, the mid-term evaluation of compliance with the Lima Action Plan 2016-2025 (PAL) and the IberoMaB Action Plan 2018-2025 (PAI) by the Biosphere Reserves that are part of the Network is carried out, and the priorities and objectives of the IberoMaB Network have been identified to be considered in the elaboration of the New Strategy of the MaB Program.

The results will be integrated into the proposal that the IberoMaB Network will send to the Secretariat of the UNESCO MaB Program, to be considered in the evaluation of the Lima Action Plan 2026 2025 and the development of the New Strategy of the MAB Program.
