This summer, Barcelona City Council, the abertis foundation and the El Llindar Foundation are carrying out an environmental awareness campaign on the beaches of Barcelona to provide work and training to young people in a precarious social or personal position.

abertis, through the abertis foundation, sponsors the Antoni Tàpies exhibition presented jointly by the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) and the Fundació Antoni Tàpies in Barcelona and named Tàpies. From Within. The exhibition, which will be open until November 3rd, is jointly organised by the Fundació Antoni Tàpies and the MNAC.

Castellet castle, the headquarters of the abertis foundation, is hosting today and Saturday 15 June the first meeting of the Management Board and the Scientific Council of the Spanish Committee of UNESCO’s MAB programme (Man and Biosphere). The president of abertis and the abertis foundation, Salvador Alemany; the assistant director of the Autonomous Organization of National Parks, Montserrat Fernández; the deputy general manager of Biodiversity at the Generalitat of Catalonia, Ignasi Rodríguez; and the mayor of Castellet and president of the Parc del Foix Consortium, Miguel Delgado, chaired the inaugural session this morning.

The 2nd International abertis Prize for Infrastructure Management was today decided in Paris, a prize which is awarded annually by the abertis Chair and recognises the best of the projects short-listed for the national prizes in Spain and France. In the doctoral thesis category, the prize was jointly awarded to Ana María Pérez and Aude Hofleitner, both with projects concerning the study of traffic.

A thesis entitled Characterisation and modelling of operating speed on conventional roads using naturalistic observation of light vehicles by Dr Ana María Pérez Zuriaga has won the 10th abertis Prize for Research into Transport Infrastructure Management, awarded by the abertis chair-UPC. The award is given in recognition of  the best doctoral thesis by a student at a university in Spain.
